Assent Legal is a full-service law firm mainly into corporate, commercial, and dispute resolution law firm and a core vertical of the Assent. Since 1986, we have advised corporate houses, financial institutions, infrastructure developers, and industrial enterprises on complex legal and regulatory matters.
The firm is supported by a team of over 30 lawyers, including partners, associate partners, associates, of-counsels, and consultants, operating from six cities in India, with Ballari as the principal office. With a collective professional experience exceeding 275 years, our partners and associate partners bring depth, continuity, and practical insight across diverse areas of law.

Our Team
Y. Ranganatha Rao
Senior Partner
Y. Ranganatha Rao is the founding force behind Assent Legal, with close to four decades of legal practice since 1986. He has advised corporates, public sector undertakings, financial institutions, and private clients on high-value litigation, regulatory, and transactional matters.
He has appeared before various courts and tribunals, handling complex and sensitive disputes. He has also been instrumental in facilitating and setting up multiple industries in North Karnataka, advising on land acquisition, regulatory approvals, labour and employment laws, and sector-specific compliance. His work further spans property and land matters, taxation, economic offences, electricity and energy law, and mergers and acquisitions.
Widely respected for his practical understanding of policy and administration, Mr. Rao has built long-standing professional relationships with bureaucrats, policymakers, and regulatory authorities. Known for his calm judgment and integrity, he continues to mentor the firm and guide its work with experience, perspective, and institutional responsibility.
Bhaskar Tadimalla Gautam
Advocate, Supreme court of India
Bhaskar Tadimalla Gautam has been in active legal practice since 2014, with a strong focus on litigation before the Supreme Court of India. His experience spans a wide range of constitutional, civil, and criminal matters, involving complex and high-stakes questions of law.
He has substantial experience in Insolvency and Bankruptcy Code (IBC) litigation, including proceedings before the National Company Law Tribunal (NCLT) and appellate forums. He also advises and represents clients in matters before the Competition Commission of India, handling regulatory and competition-law issues across sectors.
Mr. Gautam has been actively involved in PMLA trial proceedings and appellate matters in Delhi, as well as litigation before various appellate tribunals and consumer fora. In addition to domestic litigation, he has handled international maritime arbitration matters, providing exposure to cross-border disputes and complex commercial disputes.
He has also served as Counsel for the Government of India before the Supreme Court, appearing in matters involving constitutional, regulatory, and public law issues. His practice reflects a combination of constitutional depth, regulatory experience, and strong litigation capability across multiple forums.
Y. Nagaraj Rao is a practicing advocate and Managing Partner at Assent Legal. He completed his LL.B. from Karnataka State Law University and holds an LL.M. in Constitutional Law and Intellectual Property Rights. He actively advises corporates, infrastructure developers, financial institutions, and private clients on complex legal and regulatory matters.
His practice spans commercial litigation, land and property disputes, taxation-related issues, economic offences, and regulatory approvals. He regularly appears before courts and tribunals and works closely with government departments and regulatory authorities on high-stakes, execution-driven matters.
Known for his practical, hands-on approach, Mr. Rao plays a key role in shaping client strategy and ensuring integrated execution at Assent Legal, in close coordination with Assent Consultancy Inc.
A. Ramanjini
Senior Associate
A. Ramanjini is a practicing advocate with over 10 years of experience in handling civil and criminal matters. He regularly appears before courts and tribunals, representing clients in a wide range of litigation matters.
His practice covers civil disputes, criminal cases, and allied proceedings, where he is known for his practical courtroom approach and steady handling of contested matters. At Assent Legal, he contributes to litigation strategy and day-to-day court representation across trial courts and appellate forums.
Y. R. Pavan is a practicing advocate associated with Assent Legal. He completed his Master of Laws (LL.M.) from Jindal Global Law School (JGLS), specialising in Intellectual Property Rights and Technology Law.
He regularly appears before various courts, tribunals, and High Courts, handling high-stakes and complex matters. His practice spans IPR and technology law, trademark protection and enforcement, environmental and regulatory law, investment-related and real estate matters, and contractual and commercial disputes. He is also involved in matters requiring engagement with regulatory authorities and statutory bodies, particularly in infrastructure- and compliance-driven sectors.
Known for his analytical and detail-oriented approach, Mr. Pavan contributes to handling sensitive disputes and advisory work at Assent Legal with clarity and precision.
B. K. Rajasimha Shastry

B K Rajasimha Shastry has completed his B.A. LL.B. (Hons.) and LL.M. in Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR) from O.P. Jindal Global University. He is engaged in civil litigation practice and has hands-on exposure to drafting pleadings, interim applications, written statements, and conducting legal research.
He assists in matters relating to property disputes, commercial issues, and procedural aspects of civil law, and also possesses academic grounding in dispute resolution mechanisms including arbitration and mediation.
He approaches legal practice with discipline, attention to detail, and a strong focus on preparation, clarity of law, and professional integrity.
